The Worst Meats You Could Possibly Eat

A lot of “healthy” meats today are ruined by the use of hormones, antibiotics, and inhumane farming practices. But if you buy organic, you can usually surpass all the chemicals and carcinogens. However, there are some meats that are just plain bad for you – organic or not.


I used to be the biggest pork eater on the planet, no lie. If it had bacon on it, it was gettin’ in my belly. Now, I cringe at the thought. Yes, bacon on the frying pan still smells like heaven, but it doesn’t outweigh the gross and harmful effect it has on your body. Pigs are probably the most unhealthy animal eaten by humans, and one of the culprits of many health problems. Their meat is completely bacteria-infested. For one, they don’t have sweat glands (so whoever started the saying sweating like a pig is a dumbass). And since they can’t sweat and release toxins, all of the yucky crud stays inside their bodies – which then goes into yours when you eat the meat. In addition, most pigs are given antibiotics to prevent disease (which is not healthy for humans to consume anyway), but many of the bacterium, Yersinia enterocolitica being the primary one, which is a bug known to cause infections in about 100,000 Americans a year, is resistant to the drugs. So either way, you’re pretty much getting poisoned.


I’ve seen many health publications and organizations advertise shrimp as a “healthy” protein, which is so far from the truth. It’s the most popular seafood in the country, which is one reason for our nation’s sucky health stats. Why do you think so many people are allergic to shellfish? It’s not because it’s a coincidental allergen; it’s because they’re filthy and disgusting. They are at the bottom of the food chain and basically eat the shit of the ocean. If you want some fish dookie with your shrimp cocktail, go for it. But don’t complain about looking and feeling like crap if you’re eating it.

Lobster & Crab

Like shrimp, lobsters and crabs are garbage hunters. They are the cleanup crew of the ocean. From an environmental standpoint, these animals are great. They totally have a purpose. But being steamed, cracked open, and dipped in butter isn’t it. If you wouldn’t like the bottom of a dumpster, don’t eat these little crud suckers.

Oysters, Mussels, Scallops, & Clams

The role of these filter feeders is to purify waters. They consume silt, bacteria, virus, and plant debris – and so are you when you eat them. Yum.


Not all fish are healthy, especially not this sushi of the south. Because they feed near the bottom of the waters, catfish are contaminated with toxic chemicals like mercury and lead. And when you fry them, which is mainly how they’re eat down here, they’re toxic levels increase because of the high heat levels, initiating the presence of neurotoxins and carcinogens.

Foie Gras

Translated from French, foie gras means “fatty liver.” Foie gras is traditionally derived from geese, but in recent years, ducks have been used instead. The main reason this “delicacy” is considered unhealthy is because of the gavage, or force-feeding, involved in the farming practices. Basically, gavage is shoving a tube down a duck’s throat to pump it full of a carbohydrates, causing its liver to inflame up to 8-10 times its normal size, leaving the organ in an advanced state of disease by the time it’s cooked and sold for fifty bucks a pound. Just don’t eat Donald, y’all.
